Simple RAM Question - Unsure about RAM speed and compatibility.

I currently have a 256mb SDRAM chip in my computer,
and my friend offerred me the same chip for $20, and I was
like 'cool'. Before I get the chip however, I wanted to know
if there will be any compatibility problems.

Both sticks of RAM are almost perfectly alike.

However; my current stick of ram (Dell Manufacturer stick)
is 166mhz, and the card my friend has is a 133mhz.

Will this create any complications in my clockspeeds?

I think it will, but that's why I'm asking, any input would
be appreciated. Thank you.

And also if I did put it in and my computer, and it acknowledged it and
all that good stuff, and ran fine right away, would there be any
complications later on? It'd be helpful. Thanks...

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot

Both sticks of RAM are almost perfectly alike.

They will both defult to 133mhz. More ram will make an improvement
to your system and having it fall back to 133mhz is a small
sacrafice for what you'll see in system improvement.

Ideally it's good to match ram
but sdram is a little more forgiving.
$20.00 is a good price for that stick
as they do not make it any more, prices have gone way up.
