Single channel to dual channel

Can I change my motherboard from single channel to dual channel Is decided by the bios? Acer x1700 desktop. thanks

That depends on whether or not you have a matching set of dual channel memory installed.

It should choose this settiing itself, be sure to have your ram installed in the correct, usually color coded slots, presuming you have 4 ram slots..

Make sure both sticks are in the same color slots, usually with a empty slot between them.
