sony vegas 5.0...HELP!!!! Dissolve problem

    It seems when I overlap 2 events for a dissolve or use any transition, when I preview it the clip it slows down (frame by frame) through the dissolve then resumes normal speed after the transition. Why does it shutter in a transition???
    I have a new Sony Vaio 1G.
    Please Help!
