Sound device not working

i have a sigmatel c-major device on a dell inspiron 1200. The main reason I have this laptop is to do internet broadcasts of basketball and football games. The last few weeks, my sound card has betrayed me and now won't work at all. I broadcast using Windows Media encoder 9. I also have a recording software called GoldWave. On two of my recent broadcasts, there has been little or no sound recognized by the either WME or Soundwave. Now, there is next to nothing. The device is playing sound off of itunes and audio files on the computer. Help!!!
