    I am running a program which allows the use of mac drives on a PC (i am trying to get some data of the disk), but window is ALWAYS trying to create thumbnails which auto-blue screens of death my Windows XP Pro. IS THERE ANYWAY to turn of this horrible feature of XP.

    http://www.x-setup.net/

    the x-setup program has an option that will let you turn off thumbnails under
    appearance -> explorer -> settings

    i'm next to certain i remember there being an actual option in windows itself though *if that program can do it then there's a normal way too* but i cant remember where that option is.

    the program is pretty cool anyways though and worth checking out.

    HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced\DisableThumbnailCache

    This will only disable creating the thumbnail cache (thumbs.db file). If you are careless enough to view the offending folder(s) in thumbnails mode you will probably have your lovely crash again.
