Strange booting problem!

when i go to press my computer switch in to turn on the system, there is a 3 second delay before the process starts.
i'm thinking maybe faulty mb, bios, power supply issues. i've gone through and checked all the wiring and it all seems correct.
i leave my computer on 10-12 hrs at a time and its running fine. it happened when i upgraded my computer

What component(s) have you upgraded since noticing the change in performance?
