Strange occurrence whel logging into xp pro

    When xp pro boots....everything seems fine...But when I get to the login screen, I click on my username and xp flashes my desktop for about 2 seconds then flashes back to the login screen, saves my personel settings and logs me off..This is a registered install that I paid for...It was running fine with no probs for over a year and then one morning when I booted up this started happening...Ever happen to anyone else?..Any and all advice would be appreciated...Thanx for your time..
