As I've posted before, my computer is having booting problems and as a final resort I want to test my CPU. Is it advisable to swap my CPU into my cousin's computer to test or will it have some negaive impact on the BIOS or something? He also has an LGA 775 socket so compatibility isn't an issue. I have an Intel Prescott 3.4 Ghz and he has an Intel Presler Dual Core 3 Ghz.

As long as the motherboard supports them it won't cause a problem. It will either work or it won't.

As a reminder don't neglect to clean the mating surface between the heatsink and processor and applying fresh thermal compound.
