Taskbar refuses to hide (XP)

For days or even weeks my taskbar autohides as it's set to do. Then suddenly it refuses to hide any more, and I find that it has "pushed out of the way" any desktop items which were located underneath where it displays. I can turn autohide off and on again, and this causes it to hide - until it is displayed again, then I have the same problem once more. If I log out and back in again, the problem goes away for the time being.

Is there any known fix to this problem?

Once you install it, make sure to go into Settings and take off "Delayed Activation
of the Taskbar".
