I`ve just been looking on the Xchat website and the programme does appear to be free Mict. ;)

Unless I`ve missed something, it does ask for a donation, but that`s all.

    Regards Howard :)

Last time I used X-Chat in Windows was probably 5+ years ago, so I don't know then.

But then just use Opera, its avaiable on probably more platforms than X-Chat and I know it is free.

You may use XChat for Windows for free for 30 days. If, after this time, you would like to continue using the product, you are required to register. Registration is a one time fee of $19.99 USD (US Dollars) which can be paid using the PayPal service below. For EURO users, this converts to approximately €15.

    Q. Why isn't the Windows version free?
    A. It's free to try for the first 30 days! Building XChat for Windows is a difficult process, it requires quite some skill and expertise to accomplish. It takes time, and is by no means automated. This version also has some value added features only for Windows, such as opening irc:// URLs from your web browser in an existing instance of xchat, spell checking and graphical emoticons.

Apologies Mict, you are of course quite correct. I didn`t see anything on the site that said it was a trial, but when I installed it and went to register, all became very clear.

    Regards Howard :)

There are several people who produce binaries of Xchat for Windows for free. You only have to pay if you use the official binary.

Is there any representation or channel of this forum on Undernet?

No. We have an established channel on starchat.

Thanks you SNGX1275- I'd like to lurk for a while and see how it goes. I tend to already get seriously blasted frequently for coming over too strong!

Am interested in the topics you all bring up, so if it's okay, I'd like to be a silent spectator for a while and see if there any thing I can contribute.

Honestly there are so few of us doing the malware cleaning on TS, there hasn't been enough time in a day for extras!. So far, I have not participated in the IRC Chat.

Haved saved the information, hopefully for the future.

Absolutely feel free to stop by. You can sit and lurk or just shout out when you want to. There are no rules (per se....), so feel free to see how it goes.

See ya around. Although I don't talk too much in there.

Over the years, I've learned the true value of 'lurking' for the right purposes. I don't do it to 'spy' on anyone, but rather to see if I would fit into the conversation that is going on. Once years ago when I mentioned 'lurking', I got blasted from here to kingdom come! It was though that I might be spying to take info back to others! So now I try to mention where I'm coming from- it seems to work better.

Give me a bit though- seems there's a drastic shortage of malware cleaners!

    Later.

Our member list has become a bit stagnant recently. Would be cool to have some fresh faces come in and hang out for a while.
