The Difference of - and + on DVD discs

I am unsure about this since i am n00b on dvd burning now

What is difference of DVD + and - for burning and which is right one for burning the data?

+ and - are different DVD recording standards - one is no better than the other (that's why ended up with two of them). You should burn using what your CD burner and the media support.
