After a decade of Slippery Slopes repeatedly being proven correct, calling them "fud" is incredibly tone deaf.

A Slippery Slope is a logical fallacy that disproves an argument, not an argument in favor of one. A lot of Techno-Libertarians and "agents", who never took a class in Debate or Logic, apparently read one page off of Wikipedia or picked up the incorrect usage of the term off of Reddit and think that it's a valid counter-argument. It never was.

But again, I'm going to go back to comments I've made on other discussions here. There are "teams" of posters here, whose job it is to derail US-based threads and upvote each other. Americans, take note. The teams posting on this topic have derailed this thread, so that Americans can't have any real productive discussions about this specific story. This is what they do; it's their job. It's why they never get suspended and why this post will be memory-holed shortly.

P.S. I suppose after being ashamed of the mass coverup of First Nation children that died on Canadian soil due to neglect, thinks that the US works the way the Canadian government does. But there's a difference. Americans owned up to the mistreatment of Native Americans and even put out movies, documentaries and other types of media about their plight. Canada still tries to bury the evidence and pretend that no genocide took place.

Yeah… I don’t think the US has any moral high ground over Indigenous people… perhaps do some research over how your government has treated them.

EVERY nation has treated their indigenous peoples terribly… yes, we now acknowledge this and put out movies, documentaries and such… I’m sure that makes those who are living in reservations feel so much better. /s (I put the sarcasm tag because you seem to be immune to it).

Had they done what they did to Israel in any other nation, they would have been exterminated with EXTREME prejudice and the world would have cheered.

The US has many faults, but being viciously blood thirsty, so as to willfully cause famine and genocide, is definitely not one of them.

Maybe so unless you are an "indigenous" citizen of the West Bank, and your land is being occupied by Israelis/Palestinians. Oh wait, but "ownership" of the West Bank is contested. Rather than do the hard work of getting along, everyone has turned into Daleks and runs around yelling "Exterminate!" That, IMO, won't solve a damn thing and, in fact, just perpetuates the cycle of violence. FFS, how long has the basis of this conflict been going on? I'm not saying some have not been subject to some horrible atrocities, but to inflict similar atrocities on others is not going to solve anything. As someone has most certainly said, "An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth" only makes everyone blind and toothless.

The conflict has been going on for well over a century - and there are NO indigenous people in Israel or the West Bank. It was mostly swamp and desert until the late 1800s…

I am certainly not condoning genocide - but I can totally understand the act of a sovereign nation that was attacked by a terrorist group and had over a thousand innocent civilians kidnapped and killed.

The PLO, Hezballah and Hamas all have “exterminate all Jews” in their official manifestos…. Hard to make peace with people like that.

There’s a reason the Middle East situation has been awful for decades - there is no simple solution. But… it would be nice if people would stop blaming a people or religion for what a nation does… there are perfectly normal, friendly Muslims living all over the world who have nothing to do with this… there are also Jews living all over the world who have nothing to do with this.

Hating one (or both) groups because of actions thousands of kilometers away won’t help anything.
