Toshiba L750 22Z sound problem

Hi! I'm hoping that I am doing this properly - my problem is this. I have just bought a Toshiba L750 22z from P.C.World. It looks great, it works fine but there is one problem - the sound. Even when it is up to 100% the volume sounds very low and the quality is tinny. Have any other people found this or have I just got a duff one! Any comments would be appreciated, Rob
