Unrecognized 120GB hard drive unallocated

  1. i have a 120 gb seagate hard drive usb connection that i stored all that i could get on it prob 109 gb of data stored it away for about 3 or 4 years brought it out today and got a assigned letter went to properities it had raw where it should have said fat

    any way to retrieve data ? if not any way to reformat?

    As long as the disk is still recognized by Windows, you can always try a data recovery program to scan the disk for lost content. Depending on what happened to it, you might be able to restore the partition, or restore (some of) the files.

    Formatting is just a matter of going to the Disk Management module in computer management and selecting the disk there. You can create a partition and format it from there.
