Upgrade or not to upgrade

  1. I currently have the following system;
    athlon xp 3200+(barton core)
    abit nf7-s v2.0 nforce 2 ultra
    2 x 512 ocz pc 3200
    bfg g-force 6800gt
    seagate 120gb 7200 rpm

    My question is whether or not I'd see a large enough performance increase to justify spending the money on this system:

    athlon 64 4000+
    any nforce 4 ultra motherboard
    same memory as listed above
    western digital 10000 rpm raptor
    and pci express 6800gt

    Please don't start making suggestions about sli or running raid, that may come later I just want to know if it seems as though I'm spending needless money. My computer screams and plays any game at 1600 x 1200 without a hiccup.

    You will see a slight boost in benchmarks, but as far as system responsiveness goes and overall gameplay quality, you won't see much of an improvement if at all. You already have some really good hardware there. Unless you can get a great deal I'd suggest waiting a while. Everything you've listed is a boost, but is it a noticeable boost? Probably not.
