well ya i would like to experimental with that very much.

but i'm totally novice over that, I try benchmarking with just the memory that came with EVEREST only so far.

So How do i get start and what software should I download? ^^

Well, maybe start with disabling this magic program and see how soon your PC crashes without the "protection"?

after reading through this furious and bitter battle of words i would like to clear some things up.
im a computer science undergraduate at warwick uni.
nodsu and his foes both have valid points and results can vary wildly depending and many things. one of the bigest points has not even been mentioned.
hhd speed and ram speed. and the PROGRAMS you are runing. a realtime 3d game will require it memory for every frame(alot) so in this case ram freeing is only going to slow you computer down as it swaps madly.
if you are runing mainly inactive programs, data bases or files that have no active prossesing. ram freeing programs will do wonders for your ram.

Most but NOT all programs are made efficently and some major programs are made with with inefficient memory usage.
some ram monetoring software(which uses ram do not forget) can track the ussage of the ram if a large proprtion of the ram is being used inefficently it can page new memory to a swap file. untill ram is freed up.
but this cannot garentee a faster machine as no software can 'know' how activly a program will use the ram when it calls for memory.
but yet again dormaint memory(claimed memory that is not accessed much) can be moved and the pointer to the memory is also changed. this does not work with all programs as some use memory directly and will cause these programs to crash. direct memory linking like you can do but is not advises in c.

in my view there is NO POINT WHAT SO EVER of using these programs as you making the situation worse by having them runing and the OS does this automaticly with virtual memory, xp when the ram is exeeded moves dormant clamed memory to hard driver and changes the pointers so the program that ownes the memory can still reach it.

    BOTTOM LINE:
if you are wining about RAM being full your probly playing a game,3d app and there fore it needs fast access to lots of ram and you can do anything about it. if it takes ages to load then you hard drive is to slow.that is the main reason ppl thing there computer is slow, they click on a program and it takes 5 minuets to load. its not your ram, it loading the program from hard disk.at the end of the day you want as few programs runing as posible more programs dont make your computer faster overall. they can speed bits up but at a much largewr cost to the general speed of you computer.
