Hi ive recently purchased a USB aluminium drive caddy so that i could put my 80gb seagate HDD in to use with my laptop.
After a few teething problems it now works fine though im very worried about the heat of the the drive box after about an hours continous usage.
i opened the drive box and touched the drive and it was extremely hot, this hasnt caused any problems at all but im worried that the heat may deteriorate my drive which would be very annoying as i have all my music and data stored on it. my previous caddy had a fan inside it which kept the drive cool but my current one has no fan.

Am i worrying about nothing or could this turn out to be a problem?

Any advice much appreciated thanks in advance.

Hard drive are built to run in hot places and a HD that is too hot to touch is nothing unusual. If you are still worried then you could just use the enclosure with the cover open.
