Video card question

I have a radeon 4830 hd. I was wondering if I needed an hd monitor to even run the gpu or just view hd material.

No any normal monitor should be fine the high definition part of the hd4000 series is actually just a name, there is no such thing as a specific hd graphics card, only hd material and displays. Well, there are computers which are too slow to display hd content, but you will be fine, especially with a 4830, just remember to install latest drivers.
haha, I see you have an emachine at the moment, good luck using that, it should play hd content too. Weren’t you the one asking about a 4830 supporting powersupply and if CD/DVD drives are compatible?
