Video Card Upgrade help

i got a gateway gt5082 3800+, 2.87 ram, 2. ghz, looking to upgrade my graphics card and Im not sure where to begin...want to make sure i get Fairly high end card that is compatible with this computer. can anyone make some suggestions please/.

Your Power Supply seems to be a 300w, enough to probably run an 8500GT.

What kind of performance are you looking for?

ok...do i have the ability for a PCI e....i can always increase the PSU as well correct just to be on the safe side?

Yep, you have PCIe. And yeah, upgrading a PSU is usually pretty simple. In this case, the only real limitation on the card you can get is the physical space available inside the case.

Of course, there are practical limitations. Like, I wouldn't throw a GTX280 in there with your little 3800+. =P

What are the specs on your PSU? Is it the Hipro one or the Delta? Please post all the information on your PSU sticker, usually located on the side of the PSU. This is what a typical PSU sticker looks like.
