Before formatting you might like to remove the many Startups, even Messenger does not need to start with Windows.
Here's an excellent tool that allows you to stop these startups (all of them, except Antivirus) You can un-tick any or all entries, then restart to see the difference. If you later prefer to have one of the Startups back again, just start the program back up and place a tick next to that entry again.

Also run CCleaner regularly
And you might want to Defrag once in a while too (Start->Run-> dfrg.msc )
