  1. How many have done it? Have you used the upgrade to do a clean install on a new computer without an os already installed? I have heard mixed reports from reputable people with some saying illegal and some saying do it because MS knows about this and are letting it happen?? Anyone care to comment?????

Clean Vista installs are becoming the "norm" because of the many issues or failures with upgrade Vista installs. The procedure for doing a clean Vista upgrade install was released almost at the same time Vista was released

Understood. I guess what I am actually trying to say is about purchasing the upgrade retail instead of the full version retail and doing a clean install. 259 compared to 379? I have heard much about the work around.

Check out Windowssecrets.com -- they're the ones who basically "broke the story" on this. Microsoft has been queried about this, but so far have declined to respond. The obvious implication is, because it's easily done, MS tacitly approves.
