I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium and it crashes "sometimes" on startup. Just where the startup music of vista is heard it crashes there and a blue screen appears saying that it is dumping memory (during this time the startup music of vista is stuck with an odd sound) and when the dumping is complete it automatically restarts and then works fine.

Why does this happen? Do I have a problem with my hardware or is this a software problem caused by Vista?

    Mike

In order to help you zero in on what the culprit is it is important that you attach your minidumps to your next post.

    How to find your minidumps:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files. It is these files that we need you to attach to your next posting, NOT the whole folder.

Below your reply screen is the Additional Options screen. Notice the Manage Attachment button.
