Vista problem

  1. When I start my computer it ends up showing the task bar and the system tray and the desktop area is black. It says explorer.exe not responding. Well I just let it sit like that and about 10 hours later it loaded up and the computer was working fine. Of course when I shut down the computer and restarted it I had the same exact problem but this time it took 12 hours. It starts up fine in safe mode. I am not computer savvy but please help.

    Foremost, make a backup of your data files!!!

    Could be malware... or failing HDD... or corrupted files.

    Run anti-malware in SAFE mode.
    Check Event Viewer in Administrative Tools for critical errors.
    Check Device Manager in System for problems with components.
    Check HDD with HDD manufacturer's maintenance utility.

    Please let us know what you find in DETAIL. Also provide specific information about your system (make, model, components).
