Watch: MSI video shows the worst way to apply thermal paste

This chip was the only Paxville DP, all the rest were MP, I tried one the Precision 670 wouldn't post with it in there, same socket and all but no go. The 955 and 965 had HT as well, but they were also extremes, I have a 955 in the drawer. I have a lot of the socket 775 extreme CPUs, almost a collection going. I don't have the QX 9xxx ones though, they are still to exspensive just to have sit in a drawer, my QX 6700 still gets some usage every once in awhile though.

I also just got some AS5, redid all my main laptops, loved seeing the temps drop over the AS ceramic I was using, ceramic is nice since you never need to replace it, but the temps were terrible compared to AS5.

Corrected, totally blanked ,the 955/965 EE's, been so long. I went from the 840 EE to the X6800 to the QX6850 to the QX9770, all of which are still in systems. I'm rebuilding the QX6850 system in the meantime. on an Evga 780i sli FTW mobo, ARTIC SILVER 5 FTW! it took me that long to learn I wasted money for bragging rights , buying EE's,my first core i7 was the 3930k I'm flogging daily now.the QX9770 overclocked was still kickin early phenom x6 CPU's 1100t finally sat it down.lol.Its connected to my 65"DLP 3D tv with NVidia 3Dvision connected for 2 peops.now.

Is this really an article about what can be seen on a few years old video?

If that is what you make of it .the top video is fairly recent .and links to other videos .which I find entertaining..I mean you don't find the ANTICONTACT gloves , Funny? I sure do. after I watch a guy destroy a $400.00 mobo with them on. wasn't mine. :)

OK, so what's the "proper" way?? I did something similar to this (maybe a little less) and my i5-3570K @ 4.4 hasn't gone above 75º C in five years. Is this just geek snark?

the small pea sized glob at center , allways worked best for me. if it oozes out around the edges ,then sets up, it will depend on air around the cpu to cool that excess, surface area.
acting like insulating material then.
with a refurbished ,corsair ,H100i aio water cooler for as little as a decent air cooler, I run my 3570k @ 4.9 prime95 stable ,recently add 2x 8 gig of Corsair Dominator platinum 2400 MHz , what a difference from 1600 MHz gskill sniper. @5.0 I get a 70` temp warning. I'm gonna try remounting it with the artic silver5 next. I installed it with the stock TM.. could be just geek snark, though I'm a bit rugged for a geek.
