would anyone know why an access point is not giving any signal outside the room. its an old linksys model but its signal doesnt go beyond 15 metrs.
well it is sort of... it nearly dies in signal strength near the end of the room.
the device is LinkSys WAP11..........

First question: what operating distance does Linksys specify for this device?

There are many reasons that could be the cause of the signal not leaving the room (e.g., the materials in the walls prevent signals, other external interference, etc.) However, if it is struggling to make it across a small, empty room, it could be equipment failure on one of the ends. Have you done any hardware troubleshooting such as trying another access point or computer in the room to see if one of those items fixes the problem?

If you have a corner where two windows meet up put it in that area and see what you get? Try placing it higher and the ANT should stand up not bent. If you still get the same move that out of that room until you see a better signal old houses can play tricks on the wireless.
