I am 23 and have an associate in Telecommunications Engineering. I am currently working on my dual bachelor in Computer Engineering/Computer Science. I am a web developer/IT for a technical college. It isn't the great pay, but this is partly due to my experience and the states hiring freeze. I get to mess with tons of technology and get to write web apps for everything. I hate paperwork so at my job I have reduced alot of it with simple web apps.

Not falling for it, boss. Just because you're posting under an alias at TechSpot doesn't mean you'll get me to talk.

But in general, I like what I do for a living, which is programming, and I dislike the lack of job stability. I've worked in many startup companies, and these often pay badly and eventually die. On the other hand they offer some of the more interesting jobs. I've developed a 3D engine for a game, worked with an AI chip and implemented algorithms on a massively parallel chip architecture.
  6. I'm an Architect/Engineer/Designer/Draughtsman/3D Modeller/Renderer and Animator. I enjoy my job...just not the economy I have to do it in.

    Same business for 30 years

I've done the same thing pretty much for 30 years, with 4 different companies in the same city. Could I make more money in a different field? Probably, but, I wouldn't have the freedom I do with my current line of work. Not only that, I'm pretty d*mn good at what I do. So much so that I have the factory hotline calling ME when they can't figure something out.
  8. I am a network engineer at 28 years old working in Cisco I.T. I love it. Been here or 4 years, and they picked me up with no network experience. What landed me the job was super ambition, and backing it up by following through on my promises (attaining my AAS and CCNP within a couple years). I'll give you the same advice someone gave me a long time ago in college. Even though the job says x-years experience required, apply anyway If you think you can figure it out within 2 weeks of getting hired.
