Weekend Open Forum: How much is your cell phone bill?

Mine is a free company paid phone. Its not a smart phone but a cell without a bill is great.
Its a at&t samsung evergreen. Only drawback being head electrician/robotics mechanic I'm all call 24/7 just in case something breaks.

Same deal, www.giffgaff.com. Great deal, although they did pull me up on 19GB of data usage one month, but they were just concerned that I might be tethering. Amazing the amount of data usage for HD Youtube videos

Well let me explain. At the time I was gung ho about Windows Phone and the Galaxy Nexus was not being sold for the price it is today and I wasn't a big fan of Android because Ice Cream Sandwich hadn't really reached mainstream yet (still hasn't actually). So I was going to get a phone on contract either way and seeing that a premium Windows Phone handset was free I went for it. The other reason I went with ATT was to lower my wifes stupid iPhone bill by doing a family plan and getting the 11% discount. Really, even if I did drop my plan now and pay the early termination fee, in the long run I'd still be saving BUT the wife would still be paying primo for her iPhone and the amount of minutes she uses.

Sorry, wasn't meaning to say you made the wrong decision, it's just after calculating costs of 18/24 month contracts with "free" handsets they aren't really free in the end and you are often paying more for the handset overall. Not a definitive rule but true in most deals. Recently checked out an HTC V on Vodaphone for my fiancée and paying £99 for the handset upfront and then £20 a month instead of "free" handset at £29 a month (24 month contract) works out around £120 cheaper. It all varies with the amount of minutes used by the user but with deals like those from Giffgaff.co.uk (o2 subsidiary) (250mins, unlimited text, unlimited data for £10 a month, but non contracted) I can't really convince myself to ever get a contract again unless I don't have the budget for a particular handset.

You're absolutely right. I did some calculating. I calculated the cost of our current service with we paid for our current phones. $4088 for two years. Keep in mind my phone was free with contract. IF we bought two Galaxy Nexus for example and went with a $45 per month unlimited prepaid card for each line we'd pay $2960 after two years. Let's say we bought a considerably more expensive phone at $600 each. We'd STILL pay less at $3360.

Straight Talk for two lines.. 101 dollars unlimited everything. Sony Erricson Xperia Ray and Atrix 4g intl version.

Since I don't have a home phone, I need a cell phone. Also I use the cellphone for my job if I am on the road. So yes, most of us to need a cellphone.

$59 AUD per month. iPhone 4 16GB white. Unlimited texts/MMS. 2GB of Internet and $700 of calls (which includes $100 for International Calls)

I pay $43.30 per month after Tax for Unlimited Talk, Text and Unlimited Data through Boost Mobile with the Samsung Galaxy SII.

I previously had the Samsung Galaxy Prevail and was at $37.89 per month for the same plan but when I upgraded my phone I had to pay the extra $5 per month because Boost no longer does the $35 for Android phones.

By the way, the plan starts at $55 per month and goes down $5 each month when you pay on time. So after 18 months you would be at $40 per month. Or as the previous plan was, it started at $50 per month so after 18 months I was at $35 per month, plus Tax.

The only reason the cell phone companies keep charging you all so much is because you pay it.
