Weekend Open Forum: What type of keyboard do you use?

When working and playing, I prefer MSC-DIM-keyboards!, converted to PS/2-USB, as most newer MB:s doesn't have DIM-ports (haha). 80's-technology honestly performs very well! Besides; the lack of a Windows-button ensures a safe game, without risking terminating the application when trying to fire a Tommygun (Ctrl...)

I found little applications to block the windows key from functioning so you can play safely. I think I've even seen the option in a few games to stop it doing anything if you are playing full screen, but seen a few wipes in WoW or loses in fps games due to the windows key. So would definitely be a bonus to not have to worry about it

years ago, ive tried the first MS ergo kbd - bad experience at all, from then i just stick to the old fashion 'IBM" style keyboards
right now typing with Logitech internet 350 - cheap and reliable

The Das keyboard is offered in both Cherry MX blue (original) and Cherry MX brown (silent) versions. Both are great for typing and good/decent for gaming. Filco Majestouch keyboards come in blue, brown and black versions. The Cherry MX black key switches are great for gaming and less good for typing (at least, for a seriously good touch typist). For gamers who are also serious touch typists, the blues are probably the best choice. The browns are less noisy -- almost silent in operation except when they bottom out -- something high-speed touch typists seldom do.

Both keyboards come with N-key rollover as an option. Note that NKRO only works properly when the keyboard is connected via the PS/2 keyboard socket. When a keyboard -- even one with full NKRO support -- is connected via USB, NKRO is limited to 6 key presses + 4 control combinations -- not true NKRO.

Das includes a 2-port non-powered USB2 hub on its keyboard that has sometimes been a source of problems in the past. Das also has a 2-meter cord. The Filco models have only a 1.5-meter cord. Filco offers offer 87-key versions -- ones without the numeric pad. They also offer the numeric pad as a separate device, should you want both.

Finally, the Das is glossy -- and a fingerprint & dust magnet; whereas the Filco has a somewhat matte finish -- less of a problem. Overall construction and quality of the two is essentially identical.

My own choice is the 104-key Filco brown NKRO. I prefer the silent keystrokes which still have tactile feedback; I like the matte finish; and my monitor already has a powered 4-port USB hub -- what do I need with an under-powered, problematic, 2-port hub on my keyboard?

I use a G19 keyboard with a G13 for all my gaming needs.

I'm a gamer and I like everything to be illuminated so I use the steelseries Merc Stealth keyboard. I keep it set to blue backlighting and I love the gaming keypad on the left side of the keyboard, a huge plus for FPS games! Its definitely an excellent keyboard and I'm very happy with it!

I have a logitech G11 illuminated, but it's too large for my desk. I moved it to my second computer. Works good, brightness can be better.

Today I'm using a Razor Lycosa for my main system. It's also illuminated, and features a rubber like skin over the keys which improves the feeling of the keys slightly. It's not been perfect though with the Razor. I've had several glitches with the keys during a game or typing that either had me turning in circle sin the game or entirely disabled the key from use until I either restart the computer or unplug/re-plug the USB keyboard cable.

I'm looking for a new keyboard to replace the Lycosa. It needs to have illuminated keys. And I prefer a full keyboard (with the 10-key, arrow keys, and editing keys all in standard location.) and the bar shaped enter key (not the backwards "L" shaped key found on some keyboards.)

I am currently using the best keyboard in the world at the moment; the Microsoft Sidewinder X6 keyboard and when the next best keyboard; the Razer BlackWidow Ultimate, comes out I will be acquiring one.

I simply hate todays keyboard, They all have changed their layout forcing me to adjust to their new unfriendly painful layout. its like forcing Core i7 x58 user to use and do with P1 machines. The gap btw the keys r missing, del & other surrounding keys r dably layed out, enter key has got small to even notice, keyboard curve is really so round tht it will even earth shape to shame. All this leads to need for a keyboard with old style multimedia keyboard with advance features. Looking for a wireless bluetooth keyboard & simple advanced mouse coz i dont want to accidentally press wrong button and irritate myself. I am advance user of keyboard as i type onscreen without looking at my keyboard guys.. fast typing is time consuming typing

Logitech Cordless Desktop Wave Pro KB/M combo. Love the feel of the keys and the range of the wireless. Logitech mice have always fit me well, also.

Logitech G15 (Basic Version, not the more robust gaming version).
Love illuminated keys, won't go back (unless have to) to non-illuminated.
I don't find myself using the advanced features however.

I mess the old Microsoft Natrual keyaboards where there split the keys in the center and moved them away from each other a bit.

For me a buckling spring keyboard (such as the IBM Model M) keyboard works best. This type has a definite snap to each key. There's no mistaking an entry. I hate the feel of mushy keys.
