Weirdo connection problem

Hi

I am at my wits end - Computers A B and C.

A can see B and C

B can see C

C can see B

On B or C when you look in computers near me - A is absent.

My remote comtrol software works ie C can work A

B and C can ping A

B and C have total access to each other

A unfortunately is the print server. It has worked happily for three years until I had to rebuild B.

C is new - a lap top with XP but the other two are win2k

They all are running ZoneAlarm Security Suite. I have taken ZAS down on all three but it makes no difference.

NOW WHAT - HELP PLEASE.

I'm due in hospital tomorrow fpr a month and would very much like to resolve this before @I go...

make sure all three have the same Workgroup Name
(right click My Computer->properties->Name Tab)

Assuming all three have Internet Access, then all three should be able to ping
each of the others.
If not, then likely the firewall has disabled Ping Replies. Fix this first.

In the firewall (which are you using??) you need ports 138,139,445 to be opened.
For the default FW, use the Exception Tab and enable Print/File sharing on all systems.
