Western Digital has added to the gradually expanding pool of USB 3.0 devices, announcing two new My Book 3.0 external hard drives. Debuting in a 1TB capacity, the My Book 3.0 is available both as a standalone unit ($179.99), and bundled with a PCIe USB 3.0 adapter card ($199.99). The company will reportedly introduce another model later this week, with 2TB of storage and a price tag of $279.99.

BlackArmor PS 110 Performance Kit

Likewise, Seagate unveiled its SuperSpeed-enabled external drive today. Called the BlackArmor PS 110 "Performance Kit", it includes a 2.5-inch 500GB 7200RPM portable hard drive, an ExpressCard adapter, as well as backup software and AES 256-bit encryption for backed up files. Seagate is currently selling the 500GB BlackArmor PS 110 for $179.99 on its site.

The drive price is reasonable although i think i would wait till i get a pc with usb3.0 support rather then paying $200 for an adapter.

@compdata - Where do you get $200.00 for a USB 3.0 adapter? The price difference on the 1TB WD drive WITH the PCIe adapter is $199.99. Price WITHOUT the adapter is $179.99. That is $20.00 for a PCIe USB 3.0 adapter. The $200.00 jump was from a 1TB to a 2TB solution.

Agree!! IMHO, the pricings of WD and Seagate on these are quite reasonable.
