what does 8x/4x mean?

  1. Hi i'm looking at upgrading to a new video card but my mobo has a 4x 2.0 agp slot. The only cards worth upgrading to are all 8x cards or 8x/4x. Does 8x/4x mean that it will work in an 8x slot or a 4x slot? The specific card i'm looking at is a 256mb xfx geforce 7600 gt. My mobo is a FIC VC19. Will I be ok?

Yes it should work in both 8X and 4X, depending on the BIOS, the chipset, and the drivers available for that motherboard.

That is correct. It would work in a 4x or 8x slot.
