    I could be wrong, but I believe the 8800 Ultra still holds the title.

    PLEASE correct me if the 8800GTS or any new ATI model has beaten it.

    (The above is meant in terms of gaming, if you meant for rendering and professional applications then that would not be the "best" )

    if your talking pure power, yeah i think the ultra still holds the title. but the 8800 gt is pretty high up there and costs alot less, so if your talking most bang for your buck, i'd say the 8800 gt 512

    If we're talking bang for buck than I would totally agree with the 8800GT 512. However is money is not an object, then the 8800 Ultra would be best for a gaming rig.

    The HD 3870 X2 is the fastest card out there at the moment and would be a better buy than the 8800 Ultra due to its lower price and on par performance with the latter card.

    The best overall card is the GeForce 8800 GTS G92 512MB.
