What the heck are Browser Notifications? Should I Allow?

Excerpts from VWO.COM:
  • Website push notifications are clickable messages sent by a website to their subscribers’ browsers. They work similar to mobile app push notifications (notifications sent by a mobile app which land in your notification tray) except that they work on websites instead of apps and can be accessed on all devices (desktop, mobile, tablet, etc).

  • SMS often comes unsolicited since it does not require any permission from the user and phone numbers are easy to acquire. For this reason, SMS is usually considered to be a low-quality communication channel.

  • Website push notifications differ from mobile app push notifications in that, they also cover desktops.

Fortunately, this is an OPT-IN channel and all you need to do is OPT-OUT on the first pop-up with the Don't Allow button.
