Bought a used Pioneer SX-316S Stereo Audio Video Home Theater Receiver 5.1 channel
for $40CAD and hooked it up via optical.
Surround Sounds great.

Cool move 5.1 S/PDIF on optical and AC-3 HDMI are same same result I picked up a stoning good aluminum ingot front panel 35 LB Sont ES on pay bay tat will cost $2100.00 today if you want HDMI and the new HD audio formats you can oly get on spendy 35..00 UHD BD media I got that lump of Aircraft Aluminum 5.1/7.1 AVR like new shipped for $100.00

it sounds like I stole it and can do clean 5.1/7.1 THX Pro 115dB - 20dB SPL anywhere in the room at 5.1 and make your ears bleed exactly to a calibrated Digital I max Cinema loudness and more ,

it does a clean 160 watts RMS @ 2.1 or stereo and its brawnier & cheaper than low rent new plasic $599.00 plus rubbish and better than a new $1500.00 AVR if you don't mind the old lossy AC-3 5.1/7.1 sound formats and no HDMI on mine anyway.
