Where is my cd rom/dvd rom

hi there... here's my problem, i can't find my dvd rom in "my computer" i tried searching for it in device manager, and still i don't see it. i think my computer system can't detect it... what will i do?

if the problem is not the hardware itself,look in device manager under "IDE ATA|ATAPI Controllers adn see if the drive appears on it's IDE channel. if it does uninstall the IDE channel and reboot.

ok i looked at ide ata/atapi controlles
here's what i saw :
primary ide channel
secondary ide channel
standard dual channel pci ide controller
which of these is my dvd rom?

It should be on the secondary chanel. to be sure look under the advanced tab. the drive should show up as DMA2. if it shows DMA 5 then that would be the hard drive.( a few burners like plextors will occasionally show up as DMA 4)
