Currently have Pentium III 800 with Intel Chipset.
Purchased a MAXTOR 80GB hard drive with 2mb buffer.
Box says runs at Ultra ATA 133,
Current chipset on motherboard has Utra ATA Controller (Intel) maxed at
    100.
Will the 133 run in the current Ultra ATA 100 configuration

Yes it will run on there no problem. It will run at ATA100 speeds, but you are unlikely to notice any speed increase even if you could run it at ATA133 (like if you had an ATA133 controller card that came with some of those maxtor 80 gigs (I have that drive and the card)).

You'd have a hard time trying to clog up even an ATA66 channel with that one drive..
