When you open the website of "https://www.amd.com/en" today, 2nd EPYC's big picture will definitely catch your first sight. Then, Radeon™ RX 5700 Series Graphics and Ryzen™ 3000 Series Processors will make you eager to see ThreadRipper even more if you are using a X399 motherboard running whichever TR19X0 or TR29X0 CPUs on it. As you scroll downer the page, Gears5, Adrenalin Rush, New Chromebooks for Education, Infinity Architecture... etc, even Annual Corporate Citizenship and Athlon™ will say "hello" to you.

BUT... Where is our ThreadRipper CPUs?

There was a rumor saying that AMD canceled ThreadRipper39X0 this year because their newly updated Roadmap make TR disappear, and new Zen2 Core's Ryzen3000 not only includes 12cores/24threads R9-3900X and 16cores/32threads R9-3950X but also adapts many high-end technology and expensive materials on X570 chipset(part of the reason why X570 motherboards have much higher launch prices than X470 ones did), which were only for the HEDT and server level systems. Plus, Zen2 Core's Ryzen3000 family doubles the L3 Cache which was one of the main advantages of TR family to normal Ryzen1X00/2X00 families before.

Now, the 2nd Gen EPYC Processors have been released. The 8-channel sever platform is so competitive that Google had announced to purchase from AMD, and will take partially the place of current Intel's old platforms gradually. This WILL definitely cover huge amount of AMD's capacity in the future. And, it sets up an example and probably will spread to other big clients such as Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, Cray... and etc. What's more, Ryzen3900X even 3700X are badly short of supply comparing to the enthusiastic users' demand. DIYer's market is traditionally AMD's basement, and Lisa Su promised to let AM4 socket live till 2020. Except the lowest A320 chipset doesn't support Zen2 Ryzen3000 family, all the other chipsets from B350 is able to run the newest CPUs. What does this mean? It means more and more end-users will update their system from Zen or Zen+ CPUs later this year to Zen2, OR from Zen+ to Zen2 or Zen3 next year.

All of the above situations show me a not so optimistic future on the ThreadRipper product line, let alone X399's destiny.TR.JPG
