just partitioned and formatted my 60gb hdd into 2X30gb partitions.
but when i check the /my computer /properties, all it shows is a "c" drive of 30gb.
the partitions i created were primary dos (active) and extended dos.
what is the norm when creating 2 partitions.
    thanks

Did you not create the partitions using the xp startup program?

Boot from your xp cd and check the partitions, also check what file system you want to use fat32 or ntfs.
When you created the extended dos partition did you assign it a logical drive letter? it usually does it automatically but you never know :)

    1- no i used a boot disk
    2- i used fat 32
3- didn't assign a drive, though it was automatic.
    thanks

Why do you want to use FAT32 to partition your hard drive. Are you using XP or 98 OS?

If it's XP definatley go with NTFS man!!!

You need to create logical partitions inside the extended partition to make any use of it. Use the XP builtin Disk Management.

You don't need to do that. You can right click My Computer and choose manage, and then can use Disk Administrator whilst Windows is running.

also make sure that the partition is active and not hidden
