Windows 7 rescue disk not booting after creation

I'm new to 7 but I like the advanced backup features, very much like Acronis that I've used for years. So I backed up my computer including a disk image and then created a boot up rescue disk. To check the integrity of the process I loaded the rescue disk and rebooted. The problem is that it did not boot from the disk but rather botted normally. I checked to see that I got a good burn on the disk, I did, so now I dont know what to think.

Any thoughts or experiences with this?
