I have the problem that windows file protection keeps on coming up and asking me to enter the cd because vital files have been replaced (or something like that).
I have tried simply entering the cd but they keep coming up. I have formatted and re-installed windows xp pro.
I have run sfc/scannow to replace the dllcache.
But every time the message still appears.
This is not the worst thing. Every time this message starts to appear eventually (within one or two restarts) my computer will not boot up at all!! It stalls at the loadoing screen (the one with the winxp logo).
I am sure these too problems are related.
When i try to boot in safe mode (which still stalls) it looks as if it stalls at viaagp.sys.
I have just bought a new graphics card which i thought may be the problem but i put my old card back in and the same thing happened.
Here is my spec:
GF4 Ti4200
Athlon Xp1500+
Chaintech Zenith 7NJS Ultra motherboard
I have downloaded all the latest drivers and xp service pack 1.
PLEASE HELP. I cant stand not being able to turn my computer on!!
