The error I keep getting with Windows installer is:

"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode, or the Windows Installer is not installed correctly. Contact your support for personal assistence."

This happens while installing Sony Vegas 7. Although it affects all my software that uses WI.

Can't Windows update either. All of them fail when I download them.

Running XP, by the way.

I would then recommend a Repair Install - if your disk has SP2 then all you have to add is the security updates (oh woe). You at least don't lose your data and files, just programs.

edit: you have SP2 installed then his FIX won't work - you need to do the repair using either:

1 - your SP1 and then download and install SP2 + all updates, OR

2 - make a slipstreamed XP SP2 disk.

:)

So if I uninstall SP2, how do I get SP1? Put the disk in?

I'm not so competent with anything related to installing Windows stuff, as you can tell lol.

I know about System Restore and how to do it. Did it today earlier ;)

I'll get back to this later, have Karazhan in a few minutes D:
