Windows Live Messenger won't show

I am running the latest version of Windows Live Messenger and just recently it has not been opening at startup like it normally does. If I try to open it manually nothing happens (no sign-in dialog box), yet a quick check of the running processes shows that it is running in the background. I just don't get any interface. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times and it will work the first time after a reinstall but not after that.

Anyone seen this before?
