Windows xp freezes

Windows xp freezes up harddrive. Drive light on
Cad does not clear it even using task manager
Have to do hard shut down and re boot all day long help!!

How old is your hard drive? Also, could be faulty RAM.

About 6-7 years old
Freezes with hd light on
Use cad then task manager
Crap shoot if that works
Then have push dell power button off and reboot even then it still is frozen

1. What make is your hard drive?
2. Have you ever run memtest before to test RAM?
3. Can you boot into Safe Mode?
4. Do you have access to another computer?

*** If you can access anything of value back it up to Flash drives as soon as possible.

No never ran memtest
Yes I access to a laptop but not on my network

We need to find out the name of your hard drive. We can run tests to determine if it is your hard drive without booting up into Windows. The same goes for memtest. The reason I asked if you have access to another system is so we can download and burrn the needed tests to CDs.
