I am working on a neighbors computer network. I am back at my house so I don't have all of the information. They have a network with one laptop, one desktop and the router is a basic netgear. The laptop can connect through wireless with no problems and browse the internet. The desktop is the problem. It is using XP I can get on aim, and I can ping yahoo on the desktop but I can't browse the internet. So there aren't cable problems or anything like that. When I open IE it says can not connect. I ran the diagnostic and there were a few errors. The warning said https and http error 12029 the connection with server can not be established. The ftp one did connect okay though. When I open IE it brings up the log in through dial up box but they are using broadband. If I can ping yahoo and sign into aim I must have connection, I think it is something simple in settings that I have just overlooked. Any ideas?

Thanks for the fast response. I tried that when I was there. I should also add that I recently installed a new NIC card.

Delete the Dial up connection in Internet Options/Connections.
Check the LAN settings while you're there.

Thanks for the help, I'll delete those there are three in their but even then will that make a difference? When I ran the diagnostic I could get the ftp one fine it was just http and https that were the problems. I went through and did the ipconifig release and renew already.

I went back today and deleted all of those connections and reset the settings and everything worked great. Thank you for the help.
