WinXP restart issue

  1. When Windows XP starts up, at the XP logo it restarts itself. The second time that I boot XP it loads correctly.

This has been happening pretty much ever since I did a complete re-install of XP a few weeks ago.

This occurs on the 1st attempt to boot XP every single time. The second time XP always boots fine. I figure maybe when the first time it doesnt work XP may be reverting to some old setting of which the 2nd time it works fine after that setting is reverted to the old setting. What setting that is I dont know. That is just my theory.

Try msconfig . Turn one startup item off at a time .see if yu can isolate the wayward software.
I had a similar problem over a conflicting software .updated and everything was good
