It was fine last time. But today, when i tried opening a video file using WMP (Windows Media Player) It pops up an error box, saying WMP has encountered a problem and needs to close.

I do not know what is going on, because last time i could open them, but today I cant.

My error signature is

Error signature

AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer: 11.0.5721.5145 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00000000

The weird thing is that not all video files could not be opened.

I need desperate help, hope someone could help me.

The file you were trying to open may have caused WMP to crash. Try to play it again. Does it crash? If so then the file is probably corrupt or incompatible with WMP.

If no files work then the only thing i could say to do is to reinstall it.

Find the corresponding Error in the Event Viewer and paste it here:

Follow this path:
Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Event Viewer> Click on System & Apps, one at a time on the left> look for Errors on the right> right click error> Properties> note description of error, Event# and Source.

There is a "copy" button below the up/down arrows. Click that, then go to any place that allows you to type (ie. notepad, wordpad, this board) and you can paste (use CTRL-V) the entire event details there. It makes for easy reporting of the event.

If you want to paste the Event here, you do not need to include the lines of code that follow the Description- but paste all else. You will be looking for Error that occurs at the time of the problem. Please ignore Warnings.

Thanks, for all the help u guys given me.

Thank you for posting back and letting us know. I had started to work on your problem last night, but hadn't found what seemed like a reasonable solution. What you did may help others. And especially thanks for the image.
