Won't detect mouse wheel - worn't scroll

I have a mouse, but I don't know what brand it is. It's only a week old. I bought it from Wal-Mart (cheapest one). I can't get the scroll wheel to work. On the mouse options, it doesn't even identify the mouse as having a wheel.

Here's all I know about the mouse:

    Model: VG-BAMO-820
    (no brand name or anything)

What can I do to start scrolling again?
    Thanks

It's a PS/2 mouse, by the way. Everything works, but the wheel. Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Maybe your new mouse is faulty.

Take it back, and try a different mouse.

Try changing the driver to the MS Intellimouse driver. That will run most generic mice.
