Why Won't My External Modem Work???

i have a us robotics sportster 56k external modem (005686, model 0459)... windows won't even detect it... the serial port's fine... i have the right drivers... i have the modem connected to com 2 via 25 pin male to 25 pin female (the modem has a 25 pin female connector on it) anyone know anything about this modem? i've seen people across the internet with probs with this modem, but no one seems to have any solutions

com 2 (what i'm trying to use) is enabled in bios, and works fine in windows (no conflicts)

there is no "assign irq for modem", or anything similar in my bios (Asus P5A-B)

THE MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT WINDOWS WON'T DETECT THE MODEM... IF IT WAS A SIMPLE CONFLICT PROBLEM, WINDOWS SHOULD AT LEAST DETECT THE MODEM

You did check your serial port is enabled in bios? (probably). Have you tried adding it manualy?

More info on what you have done already could be useful.

I faced a problem like this before

My USB modem has conflict with my PCI sound card, both used the same IRQ 9. Solution? I removed my sound card. :D :D
