  1. Old system had a PS failure so I replaced the MoBo, Processor, PS and Vid card. I kept the HDD hoping that it would was spared the fry session.
When I assembled the new stuff all booted up well but now when I try to log in under XP it freezes and I when I hit ctrl+alt=del it goes to a differant log in and then when I enter my password it coes to XP----
I'm thinking the hard drive is having some seek issues.---

    Anyone ever had similar issues-

I can tell you now that it will say that cd is needed to boot.
Should I be looking for something else?

You'll have to reinstall Win XP. That shouldn't affect your data if you dont reformat.

Have a look at this first.

I am going to buy a SATA HDD and reinstall XP. That should solve dilema.
