XP in a workgroup

  1. triplestar Newcomer, in training

    I have 3 machines running XP connected with a netgear ds104 100 mbit hub. The machines take about 20 / 30 secs to validate before they communicate with each other or the router installed this week. This problem occurred as well before I added the router and dhcp or fixed ip makes no difference.

    Any suggestions anyone ?

    One thing to look at in the networking setup is the setting for Master Browser. By default all XP machines are the master browser. Try turning this option off. Even at work, I sometimes see a computer that takes like 2 minutes to find the list of printers on our Novel Netware network.
